Hi, I'm Roland 👋

Frontend developer. HTML enthusiast. CSS explorer. Accessibility advocate. Curious human.

I build for humans first.

I'm a frontend developer from the Netherlands who loves crafting accessible, performant and expressive interfaces using semantic HTML and modern CSS.

I care deeply about how things are built, not just how they look. Structure matters. Details matter. Experience matters.

What I believe

How I approach frontend

Semantic by default

I prefer native HTML over abstraction when possible. The platform is powerful. I lean on it first.

Modern CSS, used with intention

Container queries, logical properties, anchor positioning. I enjoy exploring new CSS capabilities and using them when they truly improve the experience.

Keep it simple

Small, focused solutions. Clean structure. Minimal complexity. Code that still makes sense six months later.

Why I write

On Frontend Stories I share experiments, discoveries and practical frontend insights.

Writing helps me think clearly. It also helps others explore what is possible with the modern web, especially when it comes to CSS and semantic HTML.

Outside of code

I am endlessly curious about how things work. Interfaces, systems, patterns, people. The web just happens to be my favorite playground.
